Why is it that so many of us on the path of recovery find ourselves reverting back to old ways without even realizing how we got there, ultimately not fulfilling our purpose.

The chaos can be comfortable, self-destruction can be familiar, and it’s what we know. In addiction, we may have felt that our negative consequences were justified by our bad behavior. We deserved the misery. We deserved the pain. We deserved to be miserable, alone, and afraid.

When we enter the world of recovery, we don’t just stop thinking this way. It takes time. When we get overwhelmed with life in recovery, we can hear these same messages we used to tell ourselves and resort back to old ways of thinking, leading to a downward spiral.

In this week’s Recovery Coaching call, the group helped Amber. Angry, bitter, and overwhelmed, and newly sober, she reached a point where she sat at the liquor store in contemplation of drinking again. The group helps Amber untangle her limiting beliefs by recognizing the hatred she has towards herself and understanding the roles she’s played in relationships with her Father and Husband; where she begins to ultimately heal her 17 year old self to become confident in the person she is today.

Listen in to learn why you need to forgive yourself and let go of the need to fulfill others’ expectations of you.
